In the middle of the Allgäu, we live in one of the most beautiful places we can imagine. The Alps in view and absolute peace and quiet. Plus a spacious area with plenty of room and space. With six generations of hosts, the Gockelwirt has grown from a 120-year-old country inn to a 4-star hotel.

I especially love the Allgäu in the fall and winter: the colorful forests and the crisp mountain air are perfect for walks and hikes. When there’s snow on the ground, the landscape becomes wonderfully quiet. And even on days when you’d rather stay indoors, there’s plenty to discover, from castles and museums to cozy places to stop for a bite to eat. It’s this mix, in particular, that makes our region so special to me.
